MOFB stresses ag issues as MO legislative session wraps up

Missouri Farm Bureau President Garrett Hawkins says there are still several ag issues up for debate during the last week of the state legislative session. Hawkins points to eminent domain at the top of the list.

“There’s nothing more fundamental than our private property rights,” he said. “So, we would hope that this would get done in an expedited fashion. Even if it’s down to the wire, it’s got to get done this week.”

He said the Missouri Farm Bureau is also keeping a close eye on other supported legislation like the gas tax bill and…

“We have important language with regard to feral hogs, we have a biodiesel tax incentive, and we have very important tax credits that need to be renewed that are administered by the Missouri Ag and Small Business Development Authority that’s housed within the Department of Ag.”

Hawkins said it’s important for the organization’s members to continue engaging with their legislators as this legislative session closes.
