MODOT confirms funds to replace 40 bridges
Northern Missouri Congressman Sam Graves says the region will be getting a grant of $20.7 Million from the federal government to replace 40 bridges.
The Missouri Department of Transportation says the bridges are about 77 years old, on average, and rapidly deteriorating. The 40 bridges are all north of Interstate 70.
Governor Parson says fixing bridges has been a focus of his administration from his first day and the repairs will help critical farm-to-market connections. He says the grant keeps those bridges from having to take less weight or be closed and that only helps Missouri agriculture.
Missouri is one of 25 states able to apply for the Competitive Highway Bridge Program, because of a population density of 100 or less per square mile.
