MO Governor highlights ag in state fair opening

Missouri Governor Mike Parson highlighted the importance of the state’s ag industry at the Missouri State Fair.

Governor Parson toured the Missouri State Fair Thursday after declaring the fair officially open. Parson tells Brownfield the fair highlights opportunities within Missouri’s more than $88 billion ag industry.

“It’s a great way to showcase, it’s a great way for people to stay at home in Missouri,” he said. “They don’t necessarily have to go other places [or] take other risks. They don’t have to; they can do it right here in Missouri.”

Parson said the state fair is a time to celebrate who we are, especially during the bicentennial.

“It’s a good time to reflect for all of us to know where we came from, what all Missouri’s been through in the past and what we’ve overcome,” Parson said. “And those days are ahead of us too. We’re going to overcome the situation we’re in right now and things are going to get better.”
