MO crop conditions falling

Missouri’s crop conditions continue to fall with dry conditions.

USDA says corn silking has passed a third done, 15 percent behind average. Corn doughing has begun. The crop is rated 60 percent good to excellent, down five percent on the week.

Missouri’s soybean crop is nearly fully emerged, that’s on pace. Nearly 20 percent are blooming and some are setting pods. Soybeans are rated 51 percent good to excellent, down five percent on the week.

Missouri cotton squaring is well ahead of pace at nearly three quarters complete. Missouri cotton is rated 58 percent good, down five percent on the week.

Rice condition in the state fell to to 65 percent good to excellent.

Pasture conditions in the state continued to fall last week but largely remain fair or better; 32 percent rated good, and two percent rated excellent. Ground conditions are much drier than the prior week; topsoil moisture is 13 percent very short, 34 percent short, and 51 percent adequate. Subsoil moisture is eight percent very short, 36 percent short and 55 percent adequate.
