MO Ag incentivizing biofuel infrastructure

The Missouri Department of Agriculture is offering fuel retailers and others a matching grant program to add or improve biofuel infrastructure in the state.

The Missouri Agricultural and Small Business Development Authority’s Biofuel Infrastructure Incentive Program is offering $2 million in matching funds for ethanol and biodiesel projects. MASBDA’s Jill Wood tells Brownfield the investment helps all areas of agriculture.

“The increased production of corn and soybeans and the use of that is a clear advantage to those producers but it’s also a win for livestock producers in the form of increased production of soybean meal and dried distiller grains,” Wood said.

She said program’s funding will be split evenly for ethanol and biodiesel projects with the goal of increasing biofuel demand in Missouri.

“This will be [for] fuel retailers, distributors, terminal companies, and fleet operations who plan to dispense ethanol blends of E15 or higher, or biodiesel blends of B6 or higher,” Wood said.

Up to $250 thousand dollars can be awarded per applicant.

The program is funded through capital improvement legislation with applications due to the department by October 29th.
