Mixed winter wheat conditions in Missouri

January was wet and warm for most of Missouri.

The USDA says average precipitation was 2.95 inches above normal, leaving nearly the entire state with adequate to surplus soil moisture, and temperatures were 5.4 degrees warmer than usual.

56% of the winter wheat crop is called fair, down 3% on the month, with 39% rated good to excellent, up 5%.

The USDA’s weekly national crop progress and condition reports resume in April.
