Missouri Supreme Court refuses to hear Grain Belt Express case
The Missouri Supreme Court has refused
to hear the case involving the Grain Belt Express power transmission line.
Missouri Farm Bureau President Blake Hurst says the Supreme Court is wrong to not
hear the case. Hurst says Missourians should never be forced to give up their
land to what he calls an energy conglomerate posing as a utility.
Clean Line Energy wants to build the Grain Belt Express wind energy
transmission lines across northern Missouri using eminent domain. The Missouri
Farm Bureau argues that the company is not a public entity and should not be
able to take private land. Clean Line Energy calls the decision a victory
bringing Missourians a step closer to benefiting from clean, affordable energy.
Hurst says the Missouri Farm Bureau will now push the state legislature to pass
a law to block such actions in the future.
