Missouri State Fair director is retiring
The director of the Missouri State Fair is retiring after 14 years on the job.
Mark Wolfe tells Brownfield the 2023 Missouri State Fair will be his last in this role.
“I wrote my resignation letter and tore it up about 19 times, but the deciding factor was getting to spend more time with my parents in southern Missouri.”
He says one of the best parts of the fair is working with 4-H and FFA members from across the state.
“I enjoy watching the kids show livestock.”
Wolfe is retiring as work begins to update the state fairgrounds, including a new arena that will be able to hold rodeos. Additional updates are coming to the fairgrounds, including building maintenance and new campsites.
Missouri Ag Director Chris Chinn says it’s going to be a bittersweet fair this year.
“We’re going to work hard to find someone that matches Mark’s caliber at the fairgrounds.”
The Missouri State Fair will be August 10 – 20 in Sedalia.
