Missouri soybeans way ahead of last year
Missouri got another inch and a half of rain this past week, helping crops along. Ninety-seven percent of corn was at the dough stage and dented corn was close to 80-percent, ahead of last year and the five-year average. Maturity, as of Sunday, was 21 percent, head of last year but eight percentage points behind the average.
Two-percent of the crop has been harvested for grain.
The Missouri USDA Ag Statistics Office says soybean blooming is on pace, nearly complete. Pod setting made a big jump. At 84%, it’s 22 percentage points ahead of last year.
Cotton setting bolls is behind the average at 83-percent complete.
About three-fourths of both corn and soybean crops in Missouri remain in good to excellent condition.
