Missouri Senator wants to end foreign land ownership

A Senator from Missouri wants to end foreign land ownership.

Josh Hawley says, “There is no reason for Chinese corporations to be owning our farmland.”

Hawley says he’s concerned that more and more family farmers can’t make it because the pressure on them is already extreme, and foreign governments like China should not be able to buy up U.S. land. “Whether that’s near a military base or anywhere else, they shouldn’t be doing it. Chinese corporations should not be owning our farmland. Farm security, food security is national security.”

Hawley says he has called for legislation in the Senate to prohibit Chinese ownership of U.S. agricultural land.
