Missouri Pork’s Nikodim honored by NPPC
The National Pork Producers Council is recognizing the executive director of the Missouri Pork Association for outstanding leadership and commitment.
Don Nikodim said he appreciates receiving the NPPC Paulson-Whitmore State Executive Award for what he calls just doing his job. He took the position at Missouri Pork in 1983 but he said his passion for the industry began as a kid.
“[I] grew up in 4-H and FFA and raised pigs, that’s where it all started,” Nikodim said.
After gaining a degree in agriculture from the University of Missouri, he taught ag before joining the Poland China Record Association as a field rep until four years later when the opportunity at MPA opened up.
“When this opportunity came along, it seemed like a great fit and apparently it has been,” he said.
Nikodim said a lot has changed during his time with the association but…
“The one thing that has stayed the same is the focus of the producers here in Missouri on how can we be better and how can we do a better job of raising pigs,” he said.
