Missouri farmer powering through soybean harvest

A northwest Missouri farmer says he’s about a week from finishing soybean harvest.

Richard Oswald tells Brownfield moisture levels in his corn started rising at the end of September, so his focus flipped to soybeans…

“We were lucky enough to have a light freeze that got the soybeans pushed over the edge and got them ready,” he said. “So, we’ve been on soybeans ever since.”

Oswald said his soybeans are making nearly 60 bushels an acre and expects to wrap up soybean harvest next week. Oswald says he is also pleased with his corn yields…

“We still are maintaining a whole field average of above 200 bushels to the acre on dry corn,” he said.

Oswald said recent dry weather has been beneficial during harvest.
