Missouri farmer almost done with harvest

A farmer in west-central Missouri says after a very rainy growing season their harvest is almost complete.

Meagan Kaiser, who grows corn and soybeans near Carrollton, Missouri says this year was their longest planting season ever.

“We started on April first and we planted our last soybean on July 21st. A lot of rains in the early planting season and even the mid-planting season.”

She says they started harvest on Labor Day.

“We wrapped up the week before last except for those July 21st beans. They still needed a little more time so we’re almost done. We were pretty happy with our yields. We were surprised with it being such a difficult growing season but we were pleasantly surprised.”

Kaiser is treasurer of the United Soybean Board.
