Missouri Corn’s farm bill priorities secured

Commodity groups are praising the president’s signing of the 2018 Farm Bill. Shane Kinne, with Missouri Corn Growers Association, says the funding of marketing programs in the farm bill is a big deal, “There’s some important trade programs in the farm bill that without a brand new farm bill were going to lapse and actually had lapsed as of September 30th. And, so, it’s extremely vital that this new bill got done before the end of the year.

Kinne says the programs bring trade teams to the U.S. and help fund staff in overseas markets,  “Trade works when we work at it and when you spend time and you spend people resources to help facilitate relationships. So we think that’s important.”

Kinne says the farm bill keeps crop insurance the same which was another big priority. Kinne is Director of Policy and Grower Engagement at Missouri Corn.
