Missouri ag fights food insecurity

Missouri farmers and ranchers are committed to fighting childhood hunger.

As many as 1 in 3 children in rural Missouri face food insecurity.  In 2017 Missouri Farmers Care launched Drive to Feed Kids, an effort to educate the public about agriculture’s productivity and the challenges of combatting hunger.

At the state fair in Sedalia today more than 650 FFA members were joined by Lt. Governor Mike Kehoe, Director of Agriculture Chris Chinn, Missouri State Fair Director Mark Wolfe and representatives from presenting sponsors Monsanto and Brownfield Ag News to pack meals for kids in need.  The food was loaded into trucks from food banks across the state and will be distributed to families in every Missouri county.

Monetary donations can be made at MoFarmersCare.com/drive.

The drive will culminate with a check presentation at Saturday night’s concert at the Missouri State Fair.
