Minnesota Senator Tina Smith hopeful USMCA vote happens this week

U.S. Senator Tina Smith tells Brownfield she’s hopeful the U.S. Mexico Canada Agreement will be voted on by the full Senate this week.

“It was great to see the USMCA pass with strong bipartisan support out of the Finance Committee. And I’ll be voting for it as soon as I can on the floor of the Senate.”

The Minnesota Democrat calls the deal a significant improvement over NAFTA.

“And also a significant improvement over the deal that the Administration negotiated earlier last year. So I think it’s important to move it forward. It’s got some things that I’ve been really fighting for in there.”

Smith says that includes addressing prescription drug costs and protections for U.S. workers, businesses and farmers.
