Minnesota reverses course on dicamba

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is reversing course on its guidance for using dicamba products recently revoked by a U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

MDA says upon further review of state law and while awaiting guidance from EPA, farmers can continue to operate under existing pesticide program guidelines.

Ag Commissioner Thom Petersen calls last week’s court decision very untimely, adding that timing is critical for farmers to apply the herbicides.

MDA has okayed the use of XtendiMax, Engenia, and FeXapan as long as all state and federal label requirements are followed.  But Petersen says that could change at any time pending additional EPA guidance.
