The Minnesota Junior Cattlemen’s Association is working alongside the State Association to bridge the gap between producers and consumers.

Karlie Breitkruetz of Redwood Falls, president of the Junior Association, says it’s important for the next generation to speak up on behalf of the industry.

“We have always taken a lot of criticism for our products, and we don’t want to fight people to get our products on shelves.  We want to work with society, and that’s always an uphill battle because so many people have such biased opinions about it.  But they’re learning from such biased education.”

She tells Brownfield the Junior Association differs from programs like the Beef Ambassadors who educate by visiting local schools and fairs.

“We work hand-in-hand with our executive director Ashley Kohls, and we get to write articles for our State Cattlemen’s newsletter and get to do interviews.”

The Minnesota Junior Cattlemen’s program is in its second year and Breitkreutz says members receive a unique opportunity to advocate for agriculture.
