Minnesota FFA Convention draws record attendance

A record number of students are attending the Minnesota FFA Convention in St. Paul.

Minnesota FFA interim executive director Lavyne Rada says registration for this year’s state convention is the highest on record.

“Preregistered we were already record-breaking, so we know we’re going to have over 7,000 people at convention over the three days.”

Speaking to Brownfield at the State Fairgrounds in St. Paul, she says Minnesota has added 11 new FFA chapters in the past year and around 30 since 2018.

“And there’s a lot of different factors of why school districts are adding agriculture, food, and natural resources education. But really there’s opportunity for jobs out there and our teaching license is super flexible, so students can take everything from food chemistry to welding, and aquaponics to floral design.”

Rada says FFA prepares students for careers and school districts are buying in.
