Minnesota Farmers Union pleased with RFS proposal

New targets under the Renewable Fuel Standard are welcomed by Minnesota Farmers Union.

MFU government relations director Stu Lourey says EPA’s proposed Renewable Volume Obligations for the next three years sets the stage for progress on several fronts.

“They provide an important market for our members, first and foremost. Jobs in rural communities, certainly lower costs at the pump, which was really important to folks earlier this year. And clean up the air and provide those important ecosystem benefits.”

He tells Brownfield the announcement helps provide certainty to the biofuels sector.

“We still need to see these volumes get set, but it’s encouraging to see the EPA move forward and be proactive in giving farmers and the industry a roadmap for the coming year.”

The public comment period for the RFS proposal ends February 10th.
