Minnesota farmer says trade deals need to be done “yesterday”

A west-central Minnesota farmer says progress on the trade front can’t come fast enough.

Noah Hultgren grows corn, soybeans, sugar beets, alfalfa, and kidney beans near Raymond.

“We need trade deals, and we don’t need them in a few months or six months, we need them yesterday.”

He tells Brownfield trade disruptions are hurting U.S. farmers.

“A lot of these things can be solved, well not necessarily solved, but take some of the brunt of these sharp declines in income if we have trade deals in place.”

Hultgren points to the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement and a trade deal with China as paramount to turning the farm economy around.
