Minnesota farmer frustrated by weather

A west-central Minnesota farmer is frustrated by weather this spring.

Noah Hultgren says conditions have been cold, cloudy, and windy from March on.

“I kind of laugh because I saw somebody talking about it’s like March 61st because it was basically from March, April and early May all kind of the same.”

The Raymond-area farmer grows sugarbeets, corn, soybeans, kidney beans, alfalfa, and canning crops.  He tells Brownfield there’s only been one day suitable for planting beets.

“Typically once you get past May 10th you really start to see the data for planting dates really change, so we really want to pound these beets into the ground as soon as possible.”

But Hultgren says that probably won’t happen this week with storms in the forecast.
