Minnesota farmer begins planting May 1

A southeast Minnesota farmer began the month of May in his planter.

Ben Storm of Dover says he started planting soybeans Monday and corn Tuesday.

“So we’re just barely getting rolling, got all the bugs kind of worked out now and it’s been good so far I guess.”

He tells Brownfield Facebook helps him keep track of when he usually begins planting.

“And when I have been watching it the last few days, there’s not a lot of times that we have started significantly before now. I would say this is pretty well normal.”

Storm is a no-till farmer and says he and his family have used two planters to plant corn and soybeans at the same time going back to 2019.
