Minnesota E15 bills breeze through ag committees

Minnesota’s E15 bill has passed both the House and Senate Ag Committees.

South-central Minnesota farmer Harold Wolle, past president of the Minnesota Corn Growers, says the Association wants to increase the grind for corn.

“And develop uses for corn, (both) new and current uses. So ethanol is very important to us. We want to increase the use of ethanol both in our country and exports.” 

Brownfield interviewed Wolle at Commodity Classic in San Antonio last week.

The Corn Growers, Minnesota Farm Bureau, and Minnesota Farmers Union recently testified on behalf of E15 legislation in both chambers.

And despite opposition from the Minnesota Petroleum Marketers Association and American Petroleum Institute, Minnesota Corn public policy director Amanda Bilek says positive stops in the first committees is a promising sign.

If the Legislature and Governor Walz put the policy in place, Minnesota would be the first state with an E15 standard.
