Minnesota corn harvest underway

Minnesota’s corn for grain harvest is underway.

The latest weekly USDA crop report says as of Sunday, three percent of corn has been picked, while silage chopping eclipsed 70 percent.

Soybeans are maturing about a week faster than normal with 49 percent dropping leaves.

The dry bean harvest is 35 percent complete, seven percent of sugarbeets have been lifted, and the potato harvest advanced to 31 percent.

Subsoil moisture remains a concern in many parts of the state with 62 percent rated short to very short.
