Minnesota Corn Growers hire two full-time district field managers

Heidie Sloot

The Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) has hired two full-time district field managers to help members get more involved in leadership and advocacy.

Heidie Sloot will represent the south-central region comprising 13 counties and says she views her role as a liaison between the state organization and county members.

Sloot recently graduated from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities with a degree in agricultural education, and worked with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture in its Minnesota Grown Program.

“All of those experiences are really going to give me the opportunity to take my passion for agriculture into this role with the Corn Growers, and get out into the field and help our members with their Checkoff education, membership activity, local organizational support and grassroots efforts as well.”

MCGA is transitioning the district position from part-time to full-time, and Sloot tells Brownfield that will allow her to spend more time at the county level.

“Meeting with those farmers directly, especially those who are working with the Research and Promotion Council on grants or experimental work on their farms and be able to check in with them.  And to really see what is important to them.”

The other full-time district field manager is Carrie Chrisenson, formerly of Land O’Lakes.

She will work with farmers in 13 counties across southeast Minnesota.
