Minnesota Corn awards two Young Adult scholarships

The Minnesota Corn Growers Association has awarded two young people interested in ag careers with $5,000 scholarships.

MCGA board director Jean Knakmuhs of Marshall says Anna Prchal, a 2019 graduate of New Prague, and Luke Carr, a senior at Blue Earth Area, stood out from a talented field of applicants.

“These two demonstrated their insight on the biggest issues in agriculture today, and how they will make an impact in our future.”

Prchal is pursuing a degree in agricultural and biosystems engineering at South Dakota State University.

Carr plans to attend SDSU and major in ag business and accounting.

Knakmuhs tells Brownfield this is the second year of the Young Adult Scholarship.

“We’re very pleased to be able to support them financially in this way. These young people are the ones who are going to be our future leaders and will lead the future of agriculture.”

Minnesota Corn awards the scholarship on an annual basis.  Applicants must be between 16 and 24 and interested in pursuing a degree in agriculture.
