Minnesota’s Department of Agriculture has added nine weeds to the state’s Noxious Weed List.

Now, Johnsongrass, pale swallow-wort, and red hailstone must be eradicated with all parts of the plant destroyed.  Amur silvergrass, lesser celandine, and saltcedar are restricted and landowners are encouraged to prevent their spread.  Amur corktree, callery pear, and tatarian maple all have special regulations to manage each of the species.

The ag department also changed the management category for four weed species.  Meadow knapweed, poison hemlock, and round leaf bittersweet are now Prohibited Control species where landowners must prevent the weed from spreading.  Winged burning bush has been changed from regulated to restricted, and landowners are encouraged to prevent its spread.
