Milligan named president of National Association of Wheat Growers

Michigan Farmer Dave Milligan is the new president of the National Association of Wheat Growers. He assumed the new role during Commodity Classic in San Antonio, Texas.

“I’ll have that job for a year and I’m certainly excited to be able to serve and be the first one from Michigan to serve in that capacity for the National Association of Wheat Growers,” he says.

Milligan says he’s looking forward to working with wheat growers around the country.

“It’s certainly a pleasure to get out and meet people and talk wheat and talk with people who have similar interests and different interests as well,” he says. “I’ve learned a lot already from the growers around the country.”

Milligan farms with his wife Kris and son Mike raising wheat, corn, soybeans, and dry edible beans in Cass City.

He has been chairman of the Michigan Wheat Program since its inception. He previously served on Michigan’s Dry Bean Commission and was chair of the American Dry Bean Board.

NAWG works with its 20 affiliated state associations and many coalition partners on issues ranging from federal farm policy, environmental regulation, future commercialization of emerging technologies in wheat, and more.
