Midwest Dairy partners with food service and retail to build consumer trust

Midwest Dairy is looking to build consumer trust by partnering with retail and food service providers.

Martha Kemper is vice president of dairy experience demand for Midwest Dairy.

“We provide consumer understanding and insights for our retailers that provide information for them to better position dairy with their customers. Dairy is a very important category to retailers.”

She tells Brownfield dairy represents about three percent of the space, ten percent of the sales, and 20 percent of the profits for a typical store.

“And generally our partnerships have been to help the retailer connect their consumers with the food that is brought to their table, making sure they’ve got the right assortment of products that the consumers demand. And we try to assist them in both of those areas.”

Midwest Dairy has partnered with grocery chains like HyVee and Coborns, Kum and Go convenience stores, and restaurant chain Pizza Ranch.  Kemper says these partnerships have highlighted dairy as a great component for consumers and meeting their needs, especially during the pandemic.

Brownfield spoke to Kemper during the 2020 National Association of Farm Broadcasting virtual convention last month.
