Michigan wheat production significantly lower

The USDA has lowered its estimate for Michigan wheat production by almost 40 percent.

USDA NASS projects Michigan’s winter wheat production at 34 million bushels compared to 50.7 million last year, with average yield of 85 bushels per acre, four bushels less than a year ago. Harvested area is estimated 170,000 acres lower to 400,000 acres.

The report also says Michigan dry hay stocks were estimated at 375,000 tons for May, down 15 percent from a year ago.
