Michigan harvest running ahead of 2019

Cool, rainy weather continued to delay fieldwork in Michigan last week while some farmers pushed through with harvest.

The USDA says 34 percent of corn is harvested for grain and condition improved eight points to 65 percent good to excellent.  Soybeans are 73 percent harvested. Nearly all winter wheat has been planted.

As of Sunday, 68 percent of sugarbeets were in good to excellent condition while winter wheat was at 71 percent.  Dry beans are 93 percent harvested, and sugarbeets are 63 percent finished.

Apple harvest is nearly complete with fresh market demand remaining higher than expected.
