Michigan harvest delayed, but still ahead of average

Widespread rains continued to slow Michigan’s harvest last week.

Corn condition is rated 68 percent of the crop rated in good to excellent condition with 89 percent is mature.  Corn silage harvest is 96 percent complete while 24 percent was reported harvested for grain.

Soybeans are 69 percent good to excellent, with 96 percent dropping leaves.  Thirty-six percent of soybeans, 42 percent of sugarbeets, and 91 percent of dry beans have been harvested. 

Winter wheat is 44 percent planted and 24 percent emerged.

Apple harvest is expected to end earlier than normal with an early start to the season.
