Three FFA members have been named stars over Michigan for their Supervised Agricultural Experiences.

Jake Bushey from the Laker FFA Chapter was awarded the Star in Agricultural Placement for his work at his family’s 3,000 acre cash crop farm and drain tile business in Caseville.  “I’d say that I’m very diversified on what I can do on the farm.  I’m able to run the combine when my uncle or my brother are not there and do a lot of the different management tasks working on the tiling business crew.”  Bushey tells Brownfield he plans to attend Michigan State University for a Crop and Soil Science degree and return to the family farm as the fifth generation.

The Star in Agricultural Production was given to Kendall Pawlowski of the North Huron FFA Chapter. Pawlowski lives on his family’s cash crop and beef farm where he is involved with cropping and livestock management decisions as well as farms his own 17 acres of cash crops and raises beef cattle.  Pawlowski plans to attend college to become a diesel mechanic after graduation.

Jerold Pell from the Caledonia FFA Chapter received the Star in Agribusiness for operating his own lawn care business. Pell will graduate in March from MSU with a Sports and Commercial Turfgrass Management degree and has accepted a position at a top-20 golf course.

All three individuals will compete in the American Star awards at the National FFA Convention this October.
