Blue corduroy is overtaking Michigan State University’s campus this week for the 89th Annual Michigan FFA State Convention.

Michigan FFA President Loren King tells Brownfield the state officer team hopes to encourage students to Shatter Expectations for themselves and go outside their comfort zone.  “The theme shatter expectations really personifies every member on our team because that’s what we try and do, reach out, but not just reach out in a way that we’re comfortable with, but to stretch ourselves and try new things.”

King says six new agri-science programs will be chartered during convention and this year has also seen a tremendous increase in agri-science fair participants.

The Michigan FFA Association expects a record attendance of more than 2,200 FFA members and guests during the convention.

King is a freshman at Michigan State University studying non-traditional agricultural education.
