Michigan Apple Committee leadership named

Governor Rick Snyder has made new appointments to the Michigan Apple Committee.

The board is are made up of seven apple growers and industry representatives, and is subject to the advice of the Senate. Appointees will serve three year terms on the committee.

Newly appointed is Jeremy Shank of Dowagiac, the chemical application/food safety coordinator with Central Produce Sales, Inc., which farms more than 130 acres of apples and various vegetables.

Reappointments include Mike Dietrich of Conklin who is a partner with Leo Dietrich & Sons LLC, a sixth-generation family tree fruit farm, and Damon Glei of Hillsdale, the manager of Glei’s Inc. which grows apples and a variety of specialty crops.
