MFP-2 sign-up starts 7/29/19

The USDA has released details of the second trade mitigation program saying signup begins next Monday, JULY 29th. Sign up for MFP-2 runs through December 6th.

Payments of the $16-Billion package will be made in up to three periods.

The first will be made of either 50-percent of a producer’s calculated payment or $15-dollars per acre, whichever is higher.

Those payments will begin in mid-to-late August.

The USDA says if conditions are warranted, the second and third payments will be made in November and early January.

County payment rates range from $15 dollars to $150 dollars per acre.

Dairy farmers in business as of June 1st of this year will be eligible to receive a 20-cent payment per hundredweight of milk based on their production history.  That rate is eight cents higher than the 2018 program.

Hog producers can sign up for $11 per head for live hogs owned between April in May of this year, up $3 from last year’s payments.

Specialty Crop payments are also available based on this year’s fruit acreage or bearing plants for cranberries, ginseng, sweet cherries and table grapes, all of which were not eligible for producer payments in 2018.
