Meteorologist does not expect a repeat of 2019 rains

Brownfield ag meteorologist Greg Soulje is confident this spring won’t be as wet as the last one.

“Over the remainder of the planting season we do not foresee this being a repeat, (again) this will not be a repeat of last year, 2019.”

He says conditions in the western and southwestern Corn Belt should improve as planting progresses.

“With time, maybe some subtle delays in the eastern areas. (then) A pickup and resumption in opportunity albeit maybe a little bit later than usual for the last of corn and soybean planting.”

He tells Brownfield a potential caveat is the likelihood of a wetter late spring and summer season in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio.
