Merger to create global leader in sustainability

Bayer’s leadership reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability as the acquisition of Monsanto draws near.

Liam Condon, President of Bayer Crop Science told a group of journalists from around the globe  Tuesday the merger of Bayer and Monsanto will create a global leader in sustainability.  Condon said the new company will create more innovation – faster than anyone else, have a complete commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, and will support the United Nations Sustainable development goals.

Calling it a constructive process in line with all expectations, Condon said other than the company’s new name, farmers will notice little change on closing day.

He told Brownfield that his company asked the European Commission for a 10-day extension on the merger approval process, and is expecting the final decision by the Commission and the United States Department of Justice on January 22, 2018.

Condon spoke at the Future of Farming Dialog at Bayer headquarters near Monheim, Germany.
