Meet the 2020-2021 National FFA Officers

The six students elected to serve as 2020-2021 National FFA Officers know they are for an unusual year of service and it has made them even more excited to serve the organization.

Miriam Hoffman of Illinois was elected as eastern region vice president.

“I’m excited about connecting with probably even more members than would have happened if we were out on the road,” she says. “I’m excited about opportunities to create new traditions and I’m just excited to continue to serve no matter what the format looks like my heart is for people.”

As the new central region vice president, Missouri Native Paxton Dahmer says he’s most looking forward to making connections with other FFA members.

“I’d like to not waste any time as a national officer,” he says. “A year goes by really quickly and so my hope is that right out of the gate we can start interacting with students in any way possible whether that be a zoom into their classroom, a phone call, a Facetime,” he says.

Anna Mathis of Arkansas is the new National FFA Secretary. Advice she has for members who want to serve as an officer is to be engaged as much as possible.

“While we’re finetuning and while we’re being engaged, and while we’re being able to have fun as an FFA member, also be kind and reframe your perspective and ensure our organization is welcoming and a safe place fore everyone.”

Georgia Native Doster Harper is the new National FFA President. He says although circumstances have changed, their mission remains the same.

“Even though we may deliver that mission statement a little bit differently, the mission of this organization still states that FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education,” he says.

David Lopez of California is the new western region vice president and Artha Jonassaint of Florida is the new southern region vice president.

The 2020-2021 National FFA Office Team was elected Thursday during the virtual National FFA Convention.
