May dairy exports near record

The U.S. Dairy Export Council says demand for dairy ingredients during May pushed export volumes to near record levels for the second straight month.

Dairy exports during May were up 13 percent in volume and 18 percent in value.

Nonfat dry milk/skim milk powder shipments were up 12 percent and the largest monthly shipment for the category.  Whey exports grew by 28 percent while cheese exports were down 13 percent, the only decline for the month.
