Market Facilitation Program payments to be sent before Thanksgiving

Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue says payments for another round of trade aid will be going out to farmers beginning next week before Thanksgiving.  Perdue says the upcoming second tranche of 2019 MFP payments, along with already provided disaster assistance, will give farmers, who have had a tough year due to trade retaliation and natural disasters, much-needed funds. Perdue told a group of farm broadcasters in Kansas City Friday, “It’s just like insurance when you have crop insurance or anything else, you never feel like you’re made whole, but again, it will allow people to continue to go forward.”

Perdue says producers of MFP-eligible commodities will be eligible to receive 25% of the total payment expected, in addition to the 50% they have already received.
