March moisture helped improve field conditions in Minnesota

The USDA reports soil moisture conditions improved slightly in Minnesota in the month of March.

Snow-melt increased soil moisture in northern Minnesota, where there are some reports of slight river flooding, while other areas welcomed some rain. Snow cover is mostly melted, but a deep frost remains in the soil as farmers look ahead to planting season.

The USDA’s weekly crop progress and condition reports resume next week.
