Major Arkansas crops nearing planting finish line

Planting for all major crops in Arkansas is nearing the finish line.

The USDA reports as of Sunday corn is 98% planted with 93% emerged and a condition rating of 68% good to excellent.

Cotton planting is 79% complete with 45% emerged and 88% of peanuts are planted with 52% emerged.

Rice is 95% planted with 85% emerged and 70% of the crop is considered good to excellent.

Soybean planting has reached 83% complete with 68% emerged and a rating of 65% good to excellent.

51% of winter wheat is coloring and the agency rates the crop 60% good to excellent. The first cutting of hay is 28% complete.
