Long planting stretch benefits Minnesota farmers

Minnesota farmers have taken advantage of a stretch of good weather.

In fact, southeast Minnesota corn and soybean grower Les Anderson says he’d welcome a shot of rain.

“Everybody’s looking for a break because it was going so long. The guys at the elevator said they don’t ever remember going these many days in a row without a break.”

The Red Wing area farmer finished planting corn Friday and tells Brownfield he has about two or three days left for soybeans.

“I think by the end of this week, the majority of the crop will be in around here for corn and soybeans. Really nice to see that.”

Anderson is president of the Minnesota Corn Growers Association.
