Livestock has a role to play as climate agendas form

Much of the focus when it comes to agriculture’s role in climate change has been centered on crop production.

But Minnesota Pork CEO David Preisler tells Brownfield livestock producers will play a meaningful part as well.

“As we look at manure for example, and issues around soil health and building soil carbon, there’s a really good story there to tell. And it’s true, and there’s some real positives there.”

He says as conversations about climate change continue, some of the talking points might be concerning but also provide opportunity.

“So I think we’re just going to have to work with it as it rolls out, and it’s really no surprise that we’re going to be faced with some of these things with the new administration.”

Preisler says as long as climate change solutions are guided by science, there should be opportunities pig farmers can take advantage of.
