Limited fieldwork so far in Iowa

Little spring fieldwork has occurred so far in Iowa.

In its first crop progress and condition report of 2023, the USDA says there were fewer than two days suitable for fieldwork statewide.

Parts of Iowa are still reporting frost in the soil, and several counties experienced heavy rains, snow, and tornados the last week of March.

There were scattered reports of anhydrous, manure, and dry fertilizer applications, and a few instances of oat seeding.

Topsoil moisture is rated 83 percent adequate to surplus and subsoil moisture is nearly 70 percent adequate to surplus.
