Lighthizer tells Congress he’s seeking separate trade deals with EU, Japan, and the UK

The Trump administration officially notified Congress Tuesday it will seek three separate trade deals with the European Union, Japan, and the United Kingdom.

U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer said the announcement is an important milestone in the process, and his office is committed to concluding negotiations with, “timely and substantive results for American workers, farmers, ranchers, and businesses.”

Notifying Congress and publishing Trump’s objectives in the federal register means USTR officials can start official trade talks in 30 days.
