Labor a concern for Ohio farmer

Southern Ohio farmer Greg Corcoran says he is concerned about labor shortages as harvest approaches.

“We’re really struggling trying to pull from the job pool that’s around in our area and hopefully we’ll find some solutions here soon because we’re going to be pretty shorthanded if we roll into the harvest season with the help we have currently,” he says.

He tells Brownfield they added more acres this year and are looking for a few more people to help.

“The more labor you have the more you’re able to get done, but also the better it seems to go,” he says. “It’s hard to get people to work 14-16-hour days on end and so if we can get a larger labor force to work for our operation, we can help alleviate some of that stress.”

Corcoran grows corn, soybeans, and popcorn in Pike, Ross, and Scioto counties.
