KS farmers sidelined from planting

A week of cool and wet conditions had planters parked in parts of Kansas.

The latest crop progress and condition report from USDA says 46 percent of the corn crop is in, 5 percent behind last year.  Seventeen percent has emerged.

Only 16 percent of soybeans have been planted, 9 percent behind last year.

Winter wheat condition is rated 28 percent good-to-excellent with 83 percent joined.

Topsoil moisture is rated at 55 percent adequate-to-surplus. Subsoil is seen at 41 percent adequate-to-surplus.
